Waxahachie, TX | December 1, 2025 — When Ashley Gonzalez heats up, there's not a defender in the Sooner Athletic Conference who can cool her off. Nelson University's long-range specialist has officially been named the SAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, following a dominant scoring performance that powered the Lions to another statement conference win.

Gonzalez delivered a masterclass in shot-making during Nelson's 81–66 victory over Texas Wesleyan. The guard erupted for 27 points on a blistering 60 percent shooting, torching the Rams' defense with a combination of rhythm threes, off-ball relocations, and deep-range confidence that kept the crowd roaring.

Her eight three-pointers and an eye-popping 61.5 percent from beyond the arc did more than rack up points on the scoreboard. They shifted momentum, ignited runs, and forced Texas Wesleyan to stretch their defensive coverage far beyond their comfort zone. And as elite scorers do, Gonzalez contributed in more ways than one, adding five rebounds, two assists, and a steal to complete a well-rounded performance.
