Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions made their mark in the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Women's Basketball Awards, with three standout players earning recognition for their stellar performances this season. The conference office announced the honorees Wednesday morning following a vote by the league's 13 head coaches. Â
Senior guard Wendy Clemmons solidified her reputation as the league's top playmaker, leading the SAC with an impressive 4.5 assists per game. Her leadership on the court and ability to create scoring opportunities for her teammates earned her a well-deserved spot on the Honorable Mention Team. Â
Forward Kate Miller brought a strong presence in the paint, averaging 5 rebounds per game while contributing 11 points per contest. Her consistent performance on both ends of the floor also secured her a place on the Honorable Mention Team. Â
Freshman sharpshooter Ashley Gonzalez made an immediate impact in her debut season, averaging 1.5 three-pointers per game and providing the Lady Lions with a much-needed scoring spark. Her impressive first-year campaign earned her a selection to the All-Freshman Team. Â
