Waxahachie, TX – It hasn't taken long for Damaris Solis to introduce herself to the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Nelson University freshman forward turned heads this past week and was rewarded by being named the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

Solis was the spark behind the Lady Lions' 1-0-1 record, scoring three goals on just five shots across two matches. She showed a scorer's touch and a knack for stepping up in big moments.

Her statement performance came against LSU Alexandria, where she scored twice in a 3-2 win. The second goal wasn't just another score, for it stood as the game-winner, sealing the victory for Nelson. Just days later, Solis added another goal in a 1-1 draw against Texas A&M-Victoria, proving she's more than just a one-game wonder.

The conference recognized her efforts over a talented list of nominees, including Ilse de Jong (Science and Arts), Brae Baker (Mid-America Christian), Emma Daskalov (Oklahoma Panhandle State), Shannyn Hedgecoth (Texas Wesleyan), Tianna Jones (John Brown), Sofia Ovando (Southwestern Christian), Ashley Perez (Wayland Baptist), and Inka Silz (Oklahoma City).

For a first-year Lady Lion, it's been a fast start. And if this week is any indication, Damaris Solis is just getting started.
